The Kia PV5 Now Takes More Than a Third of Europe’s Small Electric Van Market

Kia’s first electric van has turned into one of the quieter success stories of the European EV market. Registration figures from the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association show the PV5 accounting for 37 percent of all small, C-segment electric vans sold in Europe, and ranking as the best seller in twelve countries.

The van launched at the end of 2025, which makes the share it has taken in well under a year unusually fast for a light commercial vehicle, a segment where fleet buyers are typically slow to switch brands.

Where it is selling

  • United Kingdom: 3,361 units, the top-selling small electric van
  • Germany: 2,206 units
  • Denmark: 1,222 units

Kia has a larger electric van in the pipeline as well, recently spotted testing with reduced camouflage ahead of its debut, which suggests the PV line is being expanded rather than treated as an experiment.

Why the van segment matters

Electric vans are where the economics of electrification are least ambiguous. High daily mileage, predictable depot-based routes and overnight charging remove most of the objections that still slow private EV adoption, and city-centre access rules across Europe increasingly favour zero-emission commercial vehicles. A third of a segment is a meaningful lead.
