Tesla has confirmed pricing for the Model Q, a stripped-back compact hatchback that becomes the cheapest new Tesla ever sold in the United States. The car is aimed directly at buyers priced out of the Model 3 and at growing competition from cheaper Chinese-built EVs overseas.
Getting to $27,000
Tesla reached the price mainly by simplifying manufacturing rather than cutting basic capability. The Model Q uses a single-piece rear underbody casting, a smaller battery pack, and an interior with fewer trim pieces and less sound deadening than the Model 3.
What’s Standard
- An estimated 220 miles of EPA range from a smaller lithium iron phosphate pack
- A single rear motor producing roughly 190 horsepower
- Tesla’s NACS charge port with full Supercharger network access
- A 12-inch central touchscreen, with no separate rear-seat display
Availability
Orders open this week, with Tesla saying the first deliveries in North America will begin before the end of the year, followed by Europe in early 2027.
